About SAORO

SAORO's mission is to enrich the lives of orphaned children in Pariang village by providing them with a safe and caring environment and providing education and guidance to them and other disadvantaged children.

History

James Manyror, SAORO’s founder is one of the Lost Boys of Sudan.  It was his dream to help the orphans in his home village of Pariang, Republic of South Sudan.

SAORO opened Gumriak Orphanage and Community School on July 3, 2008.  Today Gumriak serves 105 orphaned boys and girls and 16 of these children reside at Gumriak.

In James’ native, Dinka language, Gumriak means “those who have survived the disaster.”

The SAORO organization is comprised of several people who recognize the importance of SAORO's mission and share a passion for helping the children of south Sudan.  

No SAORO officer receives compensation.  All fundraising and administrative expenses are underwritten by SAORO's officers and volunteers.
